Rising energy costs have had a significant financial impact on small to medium sized businesses in the Bay Area.  In response, KEMA Services, Inc. has developed the Small Commercial Comprehensive Refrigeration (SCCR), or Cool Biz Program to help offset the high cost of energy efficiency upgrades. The Cool Biz Program is designed to provide comprehensive energy efficiency measures to small and medium sized commercial businesses with refrigeration.

The Cool Biz Program offers incentive levels which typically cover on average 75% of the project cost.  In some cases, the program pays 100% of the cost of the project.  This allows for short payback periods and low measure installation costs for customers.  Contractors also benefit from these incentive levels because the Program effectively sells itself, allowing Contractors to minimize marketing efforts and focus on working directly with participating customers.

KEMA designed this program to promote the installation of refrigeration equipment, controls, as well as lighting and custom measures, for small to medium commercial and industrial businesses. Small businesses can typically save as much money and prevent as much pollution, per square foot, as large organizations. (Source: EPA)
